Accessibility
Built to be usable, and honest about what is not finished.
Our buyers use this site on phones, in cabs, in daylight glare, on poor connections. Accessibility here is not a compliance exercise — it is the same problem as making the site work at all.
What we have done
- Color and contrast
- Every color pairing that ships is checked against WCAG 2.2 AA by an automated test that fails the build if a pairing regresses. Body text is indigo rather than black and clears the threshold comfortably. The blue used for buttons and links was chosen because it carries white text and reads as text on white, both above 4.5:1, so nothing has to be read from color alone. Text over a photograph sits on a scrim dark enough to hold that same floor.
- Keyboard
- Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard, in a sensible order. Focus is always visible, with a ring designed to stay visible over photography as well as over white. A skip link is the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page.
- Motion
- If your system is set to reduce motion, animation is switched off site-wide — not shortened, off. That is enforced globally rather than per component, so nothing can opt out of it by accident.
- Forms
- Every field has a real label. Errors are announced to screen readers rather than only turning a border red, and they are attached to the field they belong to. Text inputs are sized so mobile browsers do not zoom the page when you tap into them.
- Touch targets
- Controls on the public site are at least 44 by 44 pixels. The primary audience uses this website one-handed, on a phone, often in daylight.
- Structure
- Pages use real headings in order, landmark regions, and lists that are lists. Images that carry meaning have alternative text; images that are decoration are hidden from assistive technology instead of being described pointlessly.
- Status changes
- When filtering changes the number of results, that is announced. A visitor who cannot see the grid redraw still learns that something happened.
What is not finished
- This site has been built to WCAG 2.2 AA and tested with automated tooling and keyboard navigation. It has not yet been through a full audit with screen reader users. Until it has, we are describing our intent and our testing — not certifying conformance.
- Equipment photography is supplied by our team. Where a unit has no photography yet, an illustration of the body style is shown with a text alternative describing it. As real photographs are added, the quality of their alternative text depends on the person adding them.
- Downloadable documents such as spec sheets come from manufacturers and third parties, and we cannot guarantee that every PDF is tagged for screen readers. If you need the contents of one in another format, ask us and we will read it out or send it as plain text.
Something not working?
Tell us. Say which page and what happened, and what you were using — a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, a magnifier. We will fix it, and in the meantime we will get you the information you were after by whatever route works.
